ACTH (Adrenocorticotropic hormone)

Also known as corticotropin, this is a polypeptide tropic hormone produced and secreted by the anterior pituitary gland. It is an important component of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and is often produced in response to biological stress.
